MasterChef favourite out after arrest

"Ice Cream King" Ben Ungerman has been dropped from 10 season.

A MasterChef contestant has been dropped from the upcoming 10 season after being arrested.

“Ice Cream King” Ben Ungerman, who was runner-up in the 2017 season, was arrested over a personal matter unrelated to the show.

‘We can confirm Ben Ungermann has left the MasterChef Australia competition,’ an Endemol Shine Australia spokesperson told the Herald Sun.

“As this is a police matter, we will not be making further comment.”

Ungerman has already filmed episodes, most recently attending a media launch at the MasterChef Kitchen alongside 23 other contestants.

On social media he cryptically said “You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have,’ he captioned the photo.”

Ice cream parlour Ungermann Brothers opened in Ipswich in 2018, with a second parlour on the Gold Coast, expanding to two parlours in Mumbai.

If he is excised entirely from the season -which could be an impossibility- it won’t be the first time a show has had to edit out a reality contestant from completed episodes.

The Biggest Loser had to be edited in 2010 after a contestant was charged with possessing child pornography prior to airing. He was later jailed for 2 years.
