News dominates Thursday viewing

Ratings: Seven News leads on a day of breaking news. Gogglebox leads entertainment shows.

News dominated viewing last night as information around the coronavirus gripped the country.

Seven News (909,000 / 879,000) topped the night eclipsing Nine News (791,000 / 784,000).

When PM Scott Morrison gave an Address to the Nation, ABC News was leading at 712,000 over Home and Away (550,000) and A Current Affair (525,000 in 4 cities).

Gogglebox at 8:30pm was the top entertainment show at 611,000, and led the demos. That was well in front of Grand Designs Australia (267,000).

Earlier 7:30 won its slot at 550,000 defeating Ambulance Australia (480,000), Thursday Night NRL (391,000 in 2 cities) and Pooch Perfect (388,000).

Nine network won Thursday with 26.7% then Seven 25.5%, 10 21.7%, ABC 17.7% and SBS 8.5%.

Hot Seat was 414,000 / 276,000 for Nine. RBT was 194,000 in 3 cities.

The Chase was 460,000 / 295,000 for Seven. Modern Family was 250,000 / 182,000 / 165,000.

The Project drew 431,000 / 304,000 for 10. 10 News First was 415,000 / 280,000 and a repeat of Hughesy at 246,000.

On ABC it was Would I Lie To You? (230,000) The Drum (207,000) and The Heights (190,000) -which will likely struggle to stay in its 8pm slot.

Secrets Of Britain (196,000), Britain’s Most Historic Towns (180,000), SBS World News (125,000) and The Little Drummer Girl (99,000).

Bluey topped multichannels at 157,000.

Today Extra: 98,000 / 79,000
Studio 10: 47,000 / 46,000 /

  1. Is it just me or is this season of Gogglebox a bit off? The newbies seem forced, the shows being reviews are boring and repetitive, the editing is messy and the cast mostly just want fame.

  2. David do you know if these numbers are based on correct times last night? Project and ABC etc ran as normal, but say for Home and Away that started late in some states, would that include some of scomo?

    I’m not sure if the delayed states showed him live and again at 7pm?

  3. Not sure if you know the answer. How come Seven can combine Pooch Perfect ratings (which aired on 7two in Melbourne and Adelaide) when Nine didn’t do the same with NRL (which screened on 9Gem in AFL dominate states)?
