Show goes on for 10, Nine wins Sunday.

Ratings: Empty seats boosts 10's Dancing show but Nine dominates from 6pm.

Sunday was a most unusual night of television -and a sign of things to come.

Denied the Australian Grand Prix, 10 put on a brave face and their best sequins for an audience-less Dancing with the Stars.

A small band of merry crew sat amongst empty seats to applaud a troupe of hard-working performers endeavouring to maintain the adage that the show must go on. There was the odd thumbs up from the cameraman and even a tumbleweed thrown across the floor from the props department. Props to all concerned.

But it was Married at First Sight that topped the night and the demos at 1.12m viewers.

That eclipsed Grand Designs (587,000 from 7:40pm), Dancing with the Stars (502,000 -its best numbers since season premiere) and My Kitchen Rules (473,000),

60 Minutes was dominant from 8:30pm at 816,000 then Stateless (390,000) and The Good Doctor (381,000).

Nine network won Sunday with 35.2% then Seven 22.2%, ABC 17.7%, 10 17.2% and SBS 7.7%.

Nine News maintained a strong night for the network winning its slot with 1.1m. Murder on the Internet was 404,000.

Seven News was best for Seven at 978,000. World’s Most Shocking Emergency Calls was 167,000.

ABC News was high at 872,000 for ABC. A Very English Scandal (213,00) and Compass (164,000) followed.

The Sunday Project drew 426,000 / 264,000 for 10. 10 News First was 339,000. A Graham Norton Show repeat drew 239,000. Bondi Rescue was 151,000.

On SBS it was Secrets Of Our Cities (201,000) SBS World News (191,000), North America With Simon Reeve (162,000), and Jeff Bezos: The Rise And Reign Of Amazon (101,000).

An Australian Story repeat topped multichannels at 212,000 in preliminary figures (in what is likely to have been a PM press conference).

  1. Of course no way to ever find out, however I bet with DWTS not having an Audience that Viewers Votes would be slightly different without the Audience cheers influencing them somewhat, perhaps even the Judges seeing they’re just seeing the dance and no applause.

  2. I hope DWTS builds into the 600’s and 700’s! It deserves high ratings. A quality show with a professional and polished production. I’m happy it’s consistently beating My Kitchen Rules. But anything and everything is beating MKR this year.

    1. Whilst I don’t watch DWTS or The Bachelor/ette (I remain a massive Aussie Survivor, MasterChef and Amazing Race fan), I fully credit 10 for doing excellent local versions of international franchises. They really seem to get the audiences of each of them.

  3. Wondering why DWTS still had seating there. Was it to illustrate the fact that there was no audience?. This could go on for a while. Maybe next week fill that void with something or just make the dance floor bigger.

  4. Yes it was great on dwts last night. Well done.
Once this height of corona virus passes things will get back to normal and there will be an audience again.

  5. I loved the Judges team dances last night, particularly Craig and his team, he looks so good in drag and was clearly in his element. I have to say that Craig has become the highlight of DWTS for me, and it wouldn’t be the same without him.

  6. DWTS was bizarre but a great watch last night. Although the reminder every 2 minutes that there was no audience did wear a little thin pretty quickly!

  7. I really liked DWTS last night. Also enjoyed the way Amanda and Grant made fun with what they had to work with. Courtney Act was also a good addition last night.
