EXCLUSIVE: Adam Hills is preparing to host the next season of The Last Leg from his garage in Melbourne.
Hills is currently in Australia with family, after his Melbourne Comedy Festival shows were cancelled.
The most recent episode of The Last Leg screened in the UK without an audience, but there are now even more changes looming.
“It looks like our garage is going to be taken over and become a mini TV studio. And there might have to be a couple of cameras throughout the house as well,” he tells TV Tonight.
“The other thing is, I’m going to have to write a TV show with people who are in London. So the only way I can do that is if we get on a Zoom session every night from about eight o’clock till midnight, because that’s morning their time.
“If we do The Last Leg live, I’ll be doing it at eight o’clock Saturday morning, which is 10pm London time.”
But while the number of episodes may be trimmed, Hills says his Channel 4 producer is looking at the bright side of the a lockdown edition.
“He started to get excited about the idea of saying, ‘Look, no one’s ever broadcast the show in Britain when the host has been in Australia!’ He said, ‘It’ll be funny, you walk out of the garage at 8:30 in the morning, and it’ll be light, and we’ll be 10 o’clock at night.
“You could get some Aussie celebs to pop in! This has opened up a whole new bunch of possibilities for us!'”

He’s mainsplaining time zones now.
Excellent, I didn’t think he would be able to return and will provide some Aussie guests for the UK viewers
Great innovation. Those guys will have fun exploring this dynamic. Let’s hope it’s not required for the whole season.
Whilst Covid-19 is certainly less than ideal there are some innovations that will be developed that will be here to stay.
‘Look, no one’s ever broadcast the show in Britain when the host has been in Australia!’ ”
What about the British Version of I’m a Celebrity
Is that one Live to UK?
Yes 100%. The same way Chris & Julia do live links from Africa to Australia
” ‘Look, no one’s ever broadcast the show in Britain when the host has been in Australia!’ ”
He’s a little misinformed here – Stargazing Live (UK version) was done in Australia live to the UK with Brian Cox and Dara O’Briain presenting a few years ago.
And let’s go back to the mid 1980s when TVAM broadcast live from Australia for a whole week, three hours a day…
I enjoy this show, and hope that this new set up wprks out for the best
And no beard…Joy unbounded?
Only the other day I was wondering if they would try something like this because I was pretty sure Adam was here – should be fun!
