US mystery thriller starring Allison Tolman begins next week on Nine.

New US series Emergence begins next Monday on Nine.

The mystery thriller stars Allison Tolman (Fargo), Alexa Swinton and Owain Yeoman.

Emergence follows police chief and newly divorced mother of one Jo Evans (Allison Tolman) after she takes in and eventually fosters a young girl by the name of Piper (Alexa Swinton) left at the scene of a mysterious accident.

Piper has no recollection of what happened or who she is, and as the investigation around the accident gets under way a chilling conspiracy connected to the child’s identity begins to take shape.

Tense turns and unsettling plot twists wait at every corner of this character-driven thriller, leaving you in suspense trying to anticipate what lies beyond explanation and understanding.

The bounds of the unknown are pushed to the outermost limits as secrets begin to unravel and an impending supernatural mystery threatens to open a Pandora’s Box of chaos and intrigue.

The 13 part series premiered in the US in September, with a modest audience run.

9pm Monday May 4 on Nine.

  1. Another Manifest, The Crossing etc. type show, that didn’t get picked up, so it probably ends with a half cliffhanger. Did Nine put Manifest on Now and buy Emergence because Manifest rated poorly, or because it didn’t? Or was ABC offloading Emergence (which was originally piloted for NBC) cheap?

    1. Foreign broadcast deals often package stuff together so that if you want series A then you also get series B and C etc-networks need cheap filler as well as hit programs,

      1. Nine doesn’t have any distribution deals for TV s since they didn’t renew the one with Warner Bros, just movies. They have been buying individual shows on the open market as they need, and more BVOD than broadcast. But yes it’s possible ABC through Emergence’s broadcast rights in with something else, like a set of steak knives.
