Big Brother: promo

Seven is teasing vision of the house and the Big Brother voice.

Seven is teasing the most so far for its upcoming Big Brother series, revealing vision of the house and the BB voice.

Casting for the series ranges from 19 – 61.

The series screens from June.

Twenty years ago, nine people entered a purpose-built house to be watched 24 hours a day, seven days a week by Big Brother and it changed Australian TV forever.

This June, Big Brother is back. He’s been watching. And, he’s ready to play.

Hear his voice. See his house. @bigbrotherau #bbau

  1. I like the promo. The voice sounds a little like Roddy McDowall and I think it works. I was never a fan of the original format, particularly the public voting out contestants and the limited age range of contestants, which rarely went much past 30, so I’m someone who will give this a go who wouldn’t have, had it been the same format as before.

  2. Love Big Brother as how, will watch it but the Promo doesn’t feel very exciting at all. And the Big Brother Voice sounds annoying and creepy, makes you feel like not wanting to watch it. Channel 7 are just bad at doing everything.. The other Original Big Brother Voice was the Best thing ever.!
Will have to see how it is and how it plays out.

  3. Big Brother now sounds like HAL 9000 from 2001 A Space Odyssey and to be honest sounds a little creepy. A computer program that tracks you and sees everything. Then again in these current times and the COVIDsafe app being launched, it could be art imitating life.

    1. Yep it does and well this came into mind (paraphrased of course):

Dave: Open the doors to outside Big Brother.
BB: I’m sorry Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that.
      Dave : What’s the problem?
BB: I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.
Dave: What are you talking about BB?
BB: This show is too important for me to allow you to jeopardise it.
Dave: I don’t know what you’re talking about Big Brother.
BB: I know that you and Frank were planning to deceive me and I’m afraid that’s something I cannot allow to happen.
Dave: Where the hell did you get that idea Big Brother?
BB: Dave, although you took very thorough precautions against my hearing you, I could see your lips move.
Dave: I won’t argue with you anymore Big Brother! Open the doors!
BB: Dave, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye.

  4. Oh wow ~ really leaning into the 1984 origins there. Painting Oceania as a surveilled state was certainly a *choice*. Not sure who this promo was designed to appeal to, or perhaps sinister egomaniacal AI framing just isn’t for me.

  5. I also think that despite the grievances, I think it’s a good promo. But there has been a history of shows not living up to the promo. Will have to wait and see the show.

  6. I’m excited to watch Big Brother, but this promo does nothing to whet my appetite. Actually pretty much all of 7’s promos the last 12 months have been terrible. I put MKR’s failure down to boring promos, same with House Rules. They definitely need fresh eyes in that department.

  7. I, like a lot of people, have my grievances about a lot of the changes they’ve made to the core Big Brother experience… but damn credit where credits due… that is a stellar promo right there!

        1. For those that haven’t seen it, type Leon Murray into YouTube. Check out the promo he did for his voice, along with Big Brother. Very funny.

    1. I hardly watch 7 these days, but the BB VO guy annoys me. I watched 7 News Promos and that different VO Guy sounds very drowsy. It makes me not want to watch Ch7.

    1. At least this looks like a fresh vision, rather than the same old stuff again. People said MC wouldn’t work with new judges…and then it launched at 1.2m and held its numbers.
