‘Classic’ Bold & Beautiful eps to fill scheduling hole

10 has a plan when new episodes dry up from the USA.

New episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful will continue on 10 into May but like all other dramas, will then dry up due to the production shutdown.

As yet there is no sign of resuming work in the US.

But a 10 spokesperson tells TV Tonight they have smartly relicensed 50 classic B&B episodes to fill the 4:30 gap (expect a lot of weddings, births and longing looks!).

B&B also featured this week on Gogglebox, which has families fascinated, screening tonight on 10.

Update: Best Of The Bold And The Beautiful from April 29.

  2. It’s a shame Fox one have not given any thought to the way they are treating their soaps. In the US, the Young and the Restless screens a classic episode on Fridays, where as here Fox one just replaces it with a rerun of one of their night time dramas. They are a couple of episodes behind with Y&R and Days, but they still don’t slot in episodes where they can can catch up. Very frustrating, especially for viewers who remember the shows being treated better when on Arena.

  3. Great idea! I follow Bold fast tracked on 10Play. Just recently it has been announced new episodes will only be loaded Tuesday through to Friday.

    1. Yes 10Play fast-tracked has dropped to 4 episodes per week due to CBS currently airing classics on Fridays. Fast-track will pause when episodes dry up in a few weeks.

  4. This is great news. Maybe 10 can do the same with Neighbours. Better yet, I think they should present them in the form of clip shows or have a current cast member provide some context prior to the actual episode.

I just hope that they don’t zoom in or otherwise butcher the aspect ratio of the classic episodes and that they air them as originally broadcast. It may also be the first time that some of these episodes will be broadcast in Australia uncut (or at least less censored).

Better still if the episodes have been remastered in HD (assuming that earlier episodes were shot on film), but I can’t see any soap opera going through the trouble of doing so considering that each episode is only intended to be aired once.

    1. From what I have heard Neighbours may have done just that, in their last week before filming stopped. In that they filmed introductions to classic episodes.
