Friday Flashback: MasterChef: “Disgustingly good”

Back in 2010 Matt Preston brought the fake drama to the kitchen....

Back in 2010 when MasterChef was ramping up the drama Matt Preston caused a furore by throwing a delicious plate created by Aaron Harvie on the floor.

As this clip reminds us… it was all faaaaaaake drama.

  1. If I remember correctly that was the season they interrupted the finale to premier The Renovators as well. I hated that moment with Matt and it took me a while to warm to the show again. That season was really bad.

  2. That was painful to watch then and even worse now. A few years ago (maybe on these pages) Matt even disowned that moment as something he hated doing. Glad the show moved on from such rancid dramatics (leaving it to MKR two years later and beyond).

  3. All respect to Gary, George & Matt for building Masterchef into what it is today, but I really don’t miss the vision of them stuffing their faces when tasting the food. Feel like the new crew at least have some table manners…

  4. I know it was only season 2 but after that moment I took everything about Masterchef a little less seriously and when they did things like that disastrous Boys Versus Girls promo I didn’t give them the benefit of the doubt. Such a singular moment affected my view of the show for the next decade.
