The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal has raised a record $18,200,000 -despite having a one hour special in place of its annual telethon.
At 8pm on Friday the donation tally was at $7,180,897 -thanks to year-long fundraising, corporate donations and a “virtual tin shake” in place of volunteers.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announced his government would make up the shortfall.
“The Good Friday Appeal supports the neediest kids – kids that are sick – and their families, every year, and we can’t leave the kids short this year,” Andrews told Channel 7 last night.

I sucked we only got a 1 hour special this year! I love watching the Appeal all day and it just wasn’t the same with only one hour!
Well done to Dan on making up the difference. Strange just o watch the 1hr special on last night but we still got to see some beautiful stories and next year it will be back bigger and better.
Majority of this would have been raised in the past 12 months
