Professional Darts Corporation on FOX Sports

32 days of live darts from inside players' homes.

FOX Sports will broadcast a professional darts event featuring the world’s best players competing against each other Live from their own homes.

The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) Home Tour will be contested daily, for 32 days, commencing Saturday, April 18 from 4.30am AEST on FOX Sports 505.

Each day’s play will run for three hours as a stand-alone round-robin group, producing a daily winner and meaning viewers can dip in and dip out and still be able to follow the tournament narrative. FOX Sports will also schedule replays of each event.

All 128 PDC Tour Card Holders have been invited to compete (including Aussie Simon Whitlock), subject to being able to set-up a camera in their home and communicate with the host/producer in English.

32 groups of four players will be drawn with each group producing six best of nine leg matches and each player playing the other once including receiving two points for a win.

Players will set up their camera on a full board shot to the left of the board with sufficient lighting to make each segment clearly visible, while a data feed, produced by Sportradar, will provide data for the on-screen score and information graphics.

  1. … a funny story about Foxtel and darts … back at the turn of the century, I was working for Foxtel and part of my job was to monitor the channels at home during the evening to check there were no problems. I was flicking through the channels and noticed that darts was on one, but there was something funny about it. Couldn’t figure out initially what until I realised that the dartboard wasn’t round. The program had been shot in widescreen but was airing in 4:3 so the picture was “squeezed”. When I called Foxtel MCR to alert them and log the fault, their only incredulous question was “you’re watching darts?”.
