Renewed: Westworld

Westworld has been renewed for a fourth season ahead of its season finale.

Westworld (aka TV’s most perplexing drama) has been renewed for a fourth season.

“From the western theme park to the technocratic metropolis of the near future, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed every twist and turn from the minds of master storytellers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy,” said Casey Bloys, president of HBO Programming. “We can’t wait to see where their inspired vision takes us next.”

The renewal comes despite the series is down about 50% in viewership compared to last season.

Season 3 will conclude on May 4th in Australia on FOX Showcase.

  1. We loved season 1. Then found the violence in S2 too much to handle.
I guess S3 will pop up on the planned WB-HBO streaming service mid-year.

  2. Westworld is HBO’s flagship drama, it has a following and distribution deals in place. Many shows these days are made about an idea with little ideas for S2+, new shows often without even how to do the end of S1. I gave up on Westworld early in S2.

AT&T lost 4.3m premium cable subscribers last year and another 900,000 in Q1 2020. They still have over 18m but in a few years they will be a streaming only business.

  3. I’m surprised about this announcement. But delighted don’t get me wrong. I just can’t believe it got a second and third season… at seemed it never had the traction (the accolades and viewing numbers) that shows like this would be expected to get. I reckon it would be a very expensive show to produce. Especially this visually extraordinary latest season. I really like that they’ve ramped up the reveals and sped up the pace of the plot. All seasons have been amazing for me tho.
