Airdate: A Week with Warnie

Mark Howard interviews Shane Warne for FOX Cricket across a special week of programming.

FOX Cricket has announced a new six-part interview series, A Week With Warnie, which will drive another pop-up channel from Monday, May 11 to Sunday, May 17.

Warne sits down one-on-one with FOX Cricket’s Mark Howard to talk about his journey from the beginning to become an international superstar, on and off the field.

Each episode will also be followed by some of Warnie’s Favourite Games playing for Australia, hand-picked by the man himself.

The world premiere first episode of A Week With Warnie will air on Monday, May 11 at 8.00pm on FOX Cricket, and will be simulcast live on other FOX Sports channels, with subsequent episodes airing Tuesday to Saturday at 8.00pm on FOX Cricket.

And immediately following the premiere episode at 8.30pm on Monday, May 11 will be Warnie’s Top 50 Wickets on Home Soil, a one-off special counting down the spin king’s top 50 wickets on home soil where he terrorised the world’s best batsmen including Mike Gatting, Daryll Cullinan, Mike Atherton and Brian Lara for the best part of two decades.

The series A Week With Warnie will feature Shane Keith Warne, or Warnie as he has become universally known, revisit the many highs of his cricketing career, which saw the leg spinner take 1001 first class wickets, and of course the very low period when he was banned from the game for a year for taking a banned diuretic drug in 2003.

He provides fascinating insights into some of his greatest moments such as the Mike Gatting wicket that changed his life forever, his return from the drug ban in 2004 when he played a starring role in Sri Lanka and the time he provided one of cricket’s most iconic moments, capturing his 700th Test wicket on Boxing Day at his beloved MCG in 2006.

Other episodes of A Week With Warnie will cover what his life in the spotlight was like – a life in front of the camera while both on and off the pitch where the leg spin legend has never been shy to speak his mind. He talks candidly about his engagement to Liz Hurley and the pressure that brought on his children with all the extra attention it attracted, as well his bond with Ed Sheeran and partying with Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

Warnie also talks about life since retiring from cricket. He tells Howie about his love for playing poker and what that has brought him which he was never able to enjoy whilst playing cricket. He discusses his business interests including his new venture, a gin distillery and he talks about an intimidating meeting with Kerry Packer when he was just 23 years old and how ultimately that meeting launched his cricket commentary role for which he has been lauded around the world, including on FOX Cricket.

The 13 matches to be featured in Warnie’s Favourite Games are:
