Axed: The Purge

US horror anthology is ending at two seasons.

US horror anthology The Purge has been axed by USA Network after two seasons.

Based on James DeMonaco’s dystopian movie, the series starred Derek Luke, Max Martini, Paola Nunez, and Joel Allen.

The story centres on a 12-hour period during which all crimes, including murder, are legal. The second season explores how a single Purge night affects the lives of four interconnected characters over the course of the ensuing 364 days, all inevitably leading up to the next Purge.

According to reports, USA Network has been moving away from original scripted series, shifting toward more unscripted series and event-style scripted programming.

The Purge screened in Australia on Amazon Prime.
