Matt White departs as 10 Head of Sport

Matt White returned to 10 in 2014, becoming Head of Sport in 2018.

Matt White has departed 10 after two years as Head of Sport.

He returned to 10 six years ago, including as host of RPM, Australian Grand Prix, motorsports and the recent Melbourne Cup broadcast. This follows from a further 11 years with the network.

A Network 10 spokesperson told TV Tonight: “Matt has been an important part of Network 10 over the years. Since he returned to the network in 2014, Matt has made a valuable contribution as both an on-air presenter and – for past two years – Head of Sport.

“He leaves with our sincere thanks and very best wishes for the future.”

His departure follows news today of the end of 10 Daily and a small number of roles impacted in the Sales team.

10 confirmed Sports Tonight and RPM remain, with no other changes to presentation or content.

A new Head of Sport is yet to be announced.

  1. I wonder if he’ll pop up at Fox Sports or possibly on the Supercars coverage again. It’s been a nice change watching the Supercars E-Series and having him commentating with Neil Crompton, instead of Mark Skaife. Would make a good permanent commentary line-up when the season resumes…

  2. Could be an indication that 10 will not be bidding for any of the major tv sports rights namely NRL , AFL, hence the no need for a “ head of sport”

    1. I believe Ten will not renew the Supercars and maybe even the Formula 1 when it’s up for grabs, these don’t rate that well and all said and done if you cant show all the races Live and only offer delayed telecasts and select races then it’s time to forget about it.

  3. Remember when he hosted Today Tonight? What a bizarre choice for that role. You could tell he couldn’t care less about the stories he was introducing!

    1. He was a Sports Tonight host on Ten for many years before moving to Seven and back to Ten. So being Ten’s head of sport makes a lot of sense.

  4. Matt is probably a very nice young man….but I have always found him a bit OTT….
I preferred the previous team when watching the Grand Prix..before Foxtel snaffled it…
Really sad for 10Daily….a good read.
