Renewed: Last Man Standing, Motherland: Fort Salem

Two US titles on Foxtel win further renewals.

US titles Last Man Standing, and Motherland: Fort Salem have both been renewed for new seasons.

Both screen in Australia on Foxtel.

Tim Allen comedy Last Man Standing was renewed by FOX along with The Resident, which screens on Seven.

The Resident and Last Man Standing are such important parts of FOX, and we’re so pleased they will be returning next season,” said FOX president of entertainment Michael Thorn. “We want to thank all of the writers, actors, directors, producers and talented crews for both of these shows, and, of course, our friends and producing partners at 20th Century FOX Television.”

Supernatural drama Motherland: Fort Salem. for a second. The series is set in an alternate present-day America where witches ended their persecution more than 300 years ago.

“I could not be more grateful for the chance to keep exploring the world of Motherland: Fort Salem,” creator Eliot Laurence said. “Freeform has been such a fabulous home for us through the development process, production, post and marketing. I’m also blown away by the love we’ve gotten from our fans, whose excitement and passion played a massive part in this renewal. Thank you, witches!”

Motherland: Fort Salem is a highly confusing mix of entwined story arcs that at one point follows a historical theme of patriotic matriarchs and then drifts into a female-centric witches boot camp were boys are used like sexual treats. Whatever messaging is being conveyed it’s plainly intended to be recognizable to today’s conflicted young generation and has received a renewal for that reason.
