UFC249: Cowboy v Pettis

On Sunday morning ESPN will screen four hours of Live UFC action.

On Sunday morning ESPN will screen four hours of Live UFC action from Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, headlined by a matchup between Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Anthony “Showtime” Pettis.

Both fighters are known for their all-action style, and Cerrone, coming off defeat to Conor McGregor at UFC246 in January, will be hoping to return to the winners circle.

Also featured on the UFC249 prelims is a heavyweight showdown between Aleksei Oleinik and Fabricio Werdum.

Two fan favourites, known for fireworks; Carla Esparza and Michelle Waterson face off in the women’s Strawweight division.

Uriah Hall and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza also clash in a Middleweight contest, with the winner looking to return to title contention.

“Sunday is set to be a massive day for ESPN, with the return of live sport,” ESPN Australia/New Zealand General Manager Haydn Arndt said.

“UFC fans could not ask for a more action packed card, and the caliber of fighters on show is unprecedented.”

Fight fans are well served across the weekend, as ESPN has extended coverage in the lead-up to UFC249: Ferguson vs Gaethje.

UFC Fight Camp (Friday 6.30pm AEST, ESPN) will include all the latest fight week news and interviews, with UFC champion Alex Volkanovski featuring.

Saturday May 9 will see ESPN dedicate an entire 24-hours to combat sports programming.

ANZ fans can catch UFC Live, UFC 249 Countdown: Ferguson vs Gaethje and relive famous UFC fights across the day.

Tony Ferguson’s clashes with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Kevin Lee, Domonick Cruz’s battles with Urijah Faber, plus action from UFC220: Miocic vs Ngannou and UFC238: Cejudo vs Moraes are highlights.

    1. No fans in attendance, daily testing including antibodies for all fighters and associated entourage/staff. So they are trying to cover all bases but nevertheless an interesting experiment being played out by Dana White. We’ll see what happens, if an infection does pop up that will really stuff things up for the UFC/ESPN and set the tone for future sports events going forward.
