This is a 2018 documentary on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his impact on civil rights.
I Am MLK Jr. celebrates the life and explores the character of American icon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Following his journey across the mountaintops and valleys while capturing the Civil Rights Movement at large, the film provides intimate first hand insights on Dr. King, exploring moments of personal challenge and elation. A look at his legacy and an ongoing movement that is as important today as when Dr. King first shone a light on the plight of his fellow African Americans.
It will be followed at 10.15pm with a repeat of The Point: “Black Lives Matter”
The death of yet another African American at the hands of police has led to global ‘Black Lives Matter’ demonstrations. The Point examines the treatment of people of colour in the United States and compares the situation with Australia, almost 30 years on from the Royal Commission into Aboriginal deaths in custody. Hosted by Ryan Liddle and Shahni Wellington.
