Batwoman to replace lead character

When Batwoman recasts its new lead actor, they won’t be playing Kate Kane, the role Ruby Rose has departed.

According to US reports, the lead character will now be “Ryan Wilder,” a cousin of Bruce Wayne. A casting notice was posted online, but has since been deleted.

It read: “She’s likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed. She’s also nothing like Kate Kane, the woman who wore the batsuit before he. “With no one in her life to keep her on track, Ryan spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits. A girl who would steal milk for an alley cat could also kill you with her bare hands, Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly undisciplined. An out lesbian. Athletic. Raw. Passionate. Fallible. And very much not your stereotypical All-American hero.”

Warner Bros. TV and The CW have previously said in a statement they would cast a member of the LGBTQ community in the title role.

“I have made the very difficult decision to not return to Batwoman next season,” Rose said last month. “This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles.”

Batwoman airs in Australia on FOX8.

  1. Great to see another LGBTQ actress will be cast. I did know there were so many LGBTQ members of the Wayne family. Ellen Page could be a good fit if a little on the petite side.
