Canada hopes for July production restart

Local production may resume soon, but can US talent cross borders?

Filming may begin locally in Canada in July but there are still hurdles facing US talent which may further delay titles such as Riverdale, The Flash and The Good Doctor.

Vancouver authorities are even hoping for mid-June, with WorkSafeBC saying, “Employers are required to develop a COVID-19 Safety Plan that outlines the policies, guidelines, and procedures they have put in place to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.”

It recently told producers, “You do not need a formal plan in place to begin operation, but are expected to develop it while protecting the safety of your workers.”

But while locals may restart visitors to Canada have to self-quarantine for up to 14 days. That measure is in effect until the end of June and could be extended.

Canada has suffered over 96,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases with nearly 8,000 fatalities.
