Seven sports presenter Jim Wilson has signed off Seven News for the last time, ending 28 years with the network.
During that time he has covered 8 summer and winter Olympics, Tennis, AFL, League World Cup and Cricket broadcasts.
He has been with Seven News Sydney since 2008, including presenting alongside wife Chris Bath. As Sydney’s Sports Editor most recently presented sport on Fridays and Saturdays as well as Seven’s Afternoon News and the 11.30 national bulletin.
In signing off last night he thanked chairman Kerry Stokes, news boss Craig McPherson, news director Jason Morrison, wife Chris Bath, presenter Michael Usher, mum Lulu, sister Lizzie, colleagues and production crew.
“And finally, to the most important person in all this -the viewer. Hopefully (who) will be the listener to come Monday. But to the viewer, you’ve shown such support of me through the good times, and not so good in my personal life. And I can’t thank you enough. Without you we are nothing,” he said.
“You’ve been supportive in this decision. It was a tough decision, because I’m leaving my Seven family. But thank you to all of you. We are committed at Seven to delivering the best News service across the day. And I thank you very, very much for everything you’ve done for me. And especially in those times of need when I’ve suffered trauma in my personal life, so thank you. You’ve been generous.”
Jim Wilson joins 2GB Drive in Sydney from Monday week.
