Lea Michele: “I apologize for my behavior and for any pain which I have caused.”

Updated: Former Glee star responds after co-stars criticise her on-set behaviour.

Former Glee star has responded to social media criticism she received this week around her conduct during the filming of the hit musical series.

Michele was called out for her behaviour by former co-stars after she tweeted support for George Floyd, which you can read here.

Heather Morris was the latest to call her out.

Later she took to instagram…

She continued, “Whether it was my privileged position and perspective that caused me to be perceived as insensitive or inappropriate at times or whether it was just my immaturity and me just being unnecessarily difficult, I apologize for my behavior and for any pain which I have caused.

“We can all grow and change and I have definitely used these past several months to reflect on my own shortcomings.

“I listened to these criticisms and I am learning and while I am very sorry, I will be better in the future from this experience.”

Meal-kit delivery company HelloFresh also ended its partnership with Michele after the comments made news.

“HelloFresh does not condone racism nor discrimination of any kind. We are disheartened and disappointed to learn of the recent claims concerning Lea Michele,” the company tweeted. “We take this very seriously, and have ended our partnership with Lea Michele, effective immediately.”

Aussie Dene Geyer has told Daily Mail that Michele was the most friendly cast member to him.

“I can only speak for myself and my own experience, but from what I saw during my time on set, there was nothing but professionalism and a genuine sense of community amongst the cast and crew.

“No one showed any signs of discomfort while Lea was on set. If I’m basing my opinion off my season, there definitely shouldn’t be a reason for a backlash.”

  1. I’ve seen a lot of her fans defend her with the old “she’s not racist, she’s horrible to everyone equally”. Dean Geyer, a while man, probably meant well saying that she was nice to him, but is probably doing her a huge disservice.

  2. Too little too late. The damage would have already been done.

I condone bullying and she can’t come back from this, no matter how “sorry” she is.

  3. Obviously her PR came up with that non-apology which quite rightly didn’t wash. Can’t see how she can come back from this. Her only saving grace is that these stories have been around a while.
