After Life confirms final season

“I’ve already made my mind up there won’t be a four," says Ricky Gervais.

The third season of Netflix comedy After Life will be the last, says creator and star Ricky Gervais.

On the weekend Gervais posted a photo revealing he had finished the first episode.

But he has also said, “I’ve already made my mind up there won’t be a four.

“And you do put those things out there to make you remember as it’s tempting but… there’s an old saying that ‘to lead the orchestra, you’ve got to turn your back on the audience’.

“That’s true. The audience think they want another one, but they’re not sure. So you’ve got to be careful.”

As part of wider Netflix deal Gervais will also pen new scripted series as well and stand-up comedy specials.

  1. I just finished bingeing another series and was deciding on the next show and this post prompted me to go watch Season 2 which has been sitting in my list. Glad I did, such an amazing little show and happy it’ll get a 3rd season, felt the Season 2 finale set it up for a Season 3 and can absolutely feel him being able to wrap it up nicely. Looking forward to it.

  2. I’ve never watched anything like this show, and never experienced such different emotions often from the same episodes. Better to take it to a natural conclusion than go on and on and out stay it’s welcome

  3. What I find amazing about this show is the impact it has on people who have experienced this. I even heard on the radio the other day that this show saved his life. He was in a dark place, but this brought him back…

  4. This is completely unsurprising because Gervais never spends too long on one project going off his history of TV work. So tbh it was a bonus we got a second season… and an absolute special treat we get a third!
