Auditions: Ultimate Tag

Seven commissions new US format with everyday Australians chasing 'Pro Taggers" for a cash prize.

Extreme sports series Ultimate Tag has been commissioned by Seven from Endemol Shine Australia.

The US format, takes the universally known game of tag and elevates it to indoor arena adrenaline, as everyday Australians try to evade elite ‘Pro Taggers.’ It also pits mixed genders against one another.

Seven’s Network Programming Director, Angus Ross, said: “This is part of our tent pole strategy that delivers epic entertainment to all audiences. We’re excited to be partnering with Endemol Shine Australia to bring Ultimate Tag, a dynamic new format, to Australia next year. Endemol Shine are the masters of supercharging shows to massive success in Australia, and with Ultimate Tag we know they will deliver a great show that our viewers will love, just as they have done with Big Brother this year.

“We can’t wait to bring Ultimate Tag to our audience next year and continue our content led growth story that has reestablished Seven as the place for brands to reach key demographics.”

Mark Fennessy, CEO, Endemol Shine Australia, said: “It’s the fastest and most intense competition ever seen – a supersized family game that just became a sport. Everyday Runners must avoid our professional Taggers – a mischievous group of highly skilled freerunners, parkour artists and elite athletes. It moves at a frightening speed that delivers momentary thrills, surprising victories and startling defeats. Ultimate Tag is blockbuster family entertainment at its pulsating best – the Ultimate Test on the Ultimate Playground.”

The series launched on FOX as broadcast’s highest-rated unscripted Summer debut in three years and FOX’s highest-rated and most-watched unscripted Summer debut in eight years.

Auditions are now open for applicants aged 16 and over for a cash prize.

The series will debut in 2021.

      1. haha i remember that sssssh be very quite about that , my people will contact your people will do lunch and work out a tv deal for the networks to bid on

  2. Knew it from the second we watched the US version that it was going to be picked up by Channel 7. It is like Gladiators series (multiple taggers with a character) so fits what they used to show. Unfortunately the US version isn’t that great so hope they can make changes to improve it.

Long time reader, first time posting so hi all 🙂

  3. Ohhhhh, I’d love to apply for this show, but I don’t think I’d be fit enough!

I’ll look forward to tuning in though, even though I don’t think it will be very popular!

  4. Wait what… Endemol Shine must have really put some massive spin on the USA numbers to get this away?!

Ultimate Tag has been a big ratings flop in the states and absolutely panned in the media. Why would Seven choose to commission this dog?

    1. The only reason why it was the “most watched” launch is because it premiered after the Masked Singer. After that, once people saw it the ratings plummeted.

    1. Ultimate Tips sounds like a horse racing show and Ultimate It sounds like the third in the film franchise 😀
This is an awful idea for a show.
