New marketing appointment at Foxtel

Lisa Cronin becomes Director of Customer Marketing and Loyalty.

Foxtel has appointed Lisa Cronin as its new Director of Customer Marketing and Loyalty.

Cronin was previously Head of Personalised Marketing, Home Ownership at Westpac and has worked for O2, British Telecom and Optus. She replaces Lisa Johnson who returned to the UK.

“She has been a keen follower of Foxtel for many years, and is excited to have found the right opportunity to join our team and make a difference,” chief marketing and sales officer Keiren Cooney said in an email to staff.

Foxtel has undergone dizzying staff and restructure changes in its marketing department in recent years, which Mumbrella details here.

While staffing numbers have been reduced by over 250, CEO Patrick Delany is restructuring with recent introductions including Kayo, Binge, Netflix access, a customer loyalty program, a new deal with WarnerMedia and extra content for customer during COVID-19.

Lisa Cronin begins in early September.

  1. Don’t believe Foxtel understand trending or popular.

    It’s not popular to have a set-top box… or satellite…

VOD yes… streaming Live Channels… learn something for the competition in the US eh.

    1. To be fair they offer traditional cable with iQ plus live Streaming on Foxtel GO; also SVOD: Foxtel Now, Kayo and Binge. I’d suggest Game of Thrones has been amongst the biggest trending and popular of all shows, and even Wentworth does nicely.

    2. 2.6 million subscribers for satellite/cable doesn’t seem like something unpopular. Fetch TV does pretty well too, and they’re set top box based (with IP delivery of content including live channels)

  2. Yes, what a curious title; Director of Customer Marketing and Loyalty.
Foxtel should quickly realize that there is no such thing as customer loyalty anymore, just whatever is trending and popular at the moment, which you have to say, with an extra 10 million subscribers in the past few months, is Netflix.
Foxtel will need to have employed a marketing genius or become a global brand to keep relevant in today’s SVOD market.

    1. Netflix had 2.657 million additional subscribers in the Asia Pacific in the three months ended 30 June (source: Netflix 2nd quarter 2020 results). Interesting ARPU has dropped slightly from 12 months before.

Not sure why they need a Director of Customer Marketing and Loyalty when they already have a Chief Marketing and Sales officer.
