News Breakfast team self-isolate

News Breakfast presenters Lisa Millar, Michael Rowland and Nate Byrne will self-isolate as a precaution after the wife of an ABC crew member tested positive to COVID-19.

In a statement ABC said, “Our News Breakfast floor manager found out this afternoon that his wife has tested positive for COVID-19. He has now been tested as well and, while we wait for his results, ABC management has decided the team that works closely with him should not come into work.

“Every health precaution is being taken at the ABC’s Southbank premises, including deep cleaning.

“This goes above and beyond the requirements of the Health Department, but the ABC wants to take the extra precaution for the wellbeing of everyone who works here, and in the interests of public safety.

“Our thoughts are with our employee and his wife at this worrying time and we are giving them all the support we can.”

Madeleine Morris, Ben Knight and Georgie Tunny will present News Breakfast from tomorrow.

  1. Joe the floor manager is a legend at the ABC in Melbourne – he has worked on everything there from comedy to news and entertainment. I hope all are ok, It was a well considered decision. Good to see the ABC leading by example on these sorts of arrangements.

  2. I send my prayers out to them. I’m sure Madeleine, Ben and Georgie will do an awesome job filling in. It would be great if Double J’s Zan Rowe who presents music news each Wednesday could step up and co-host.
