Nine News claims 10th year in Sydney
In weeks won, Nine Nine takes its 10th year in a row in Sydney.

Nine News has claimed a decade of wins in the Sydney market.
Nine’s win is based on weeks won for Monday – Friday bulletins, claiming 2020 yesterday morning. Of 380 ratings weeks, 9News Sydney has won 351.
In a note to staff news director Simon Hobbs said, “This score line makes it look like a blowout. But, nothing could be further from the truth. It’s been a dog fight each and every day. The only reason we have kept our heads in front is because of your hard work. Each of you play an important role. Your hard work, talent, and commitment to excellence is what’s made the difference.
“And those qualities have never been more evident than in 2020.
“While everyone else was enjoying a Christmas break, you stayed at work to cover the toughest bushfire season in our nation’s history. Long days turned into long nights, many of you worked long stretches without a proper break. It was exhausting.
“And just when you thought you might get a well earned break… Covid hit.”
Nine’s Sydney audience has lifted 5.59% this year, doubled its Facebook engagement from 8.2 million vs 3.9 million in 2019 and Twitter engagements are up 256%, from 88k to 313k.
“To our team in the newsroom, you are the finest group of people I have ever worked with. You are the very best at what you do. Working alongside you is an absolute privilege,” Hobbs added.

Go Nine News Sydney. They truly are the Best and I always watch Nine News. It’s all because of Peter Overton, no one is even close to him, he is the king!!!!
I think Seven should have dual presenters with melissa Doyle and Michael Usher presenting the weekday news with Fergo on weekends. Also move Mel to weekends, she’s a terrible sport presenter and put Matt on sport weeknights. Leave David Brown where he is. That’s what I would do.
There’s no need for two newsreaders, it’s just an expensive gimmick.
It’s a point of difference between the two services
Interesting that Seven win overall most nights but lose in Sydney and Melbourne the two biggest cities population wise to Nine
And now Seven is starting to be like Nine.
Nine Sydney made the right choice to move Mark Ferguson from weekday to weekend reading (which led to his defection to Seven). He did nor resonate with viewers, and Peter Overton did. The results speak for themselves.
