NRL: Indigenous Round on FOX Sports

“Sport is a massive thing in our culture, it connects us as people," says Rabbitohs Latrell Mitchell.

FOX League will mark NRL Indigenous Round this week with a week of programming.

Indigenous NRL players Latrell Mitchell, Cody Walker and Wade Graham gave their take on the significance of the week for their culture.

Latrell Mitchell: “Sport is a massive thing in our culture, it connects us as people.”

Cody Walker: “What’s the most common thing in Aboriginal communities is a love of rugby league. I get a great passion out of inspiring young indigenous kids and it gives us a vehicle to do that.”

Wade Graham: “I think it’s so important for indigenous players to play on the big stage. It shows a pathway and inspires the younger generation. It really gives back to the community this game.”

Building up to the weekend NRL 360 will set the news agenda from the get-go when they are joined by Roosters premiership winning coach Trent Robinson tonight from 6.30pm.

Leading up to the footy on Thursday viewers can relive the most memorable moments for five of the greatest Indigenous players to play the game – rugby league Immortal Arthur Beetson, Greg Inglis, Johnathan Thurston, Steve Renouf and Laurie Daley, when their best games are played out back-to-back.

Getting the round underway in the Fox League studio will be Yvonne Sampson, Gorden Tallis, Michael Ennis and Braith Anasta for Rabbitohs vs Dragons. A special presentation will take place before kick-off recognising Indigenous Round.

The 13th Immortal, Mal Meninga, will join the Friday Night Football panel hosted by Jess Yates from 5.00pm for Wests Tigers vs Warriors and Broncos vs Sharks.

Super Saturday is headlined this week by a desperate Sea Eagles outfit, fighting for every crucial win without their superstar fullback, Tom Trbojevic, up against the table topping Penrith Panthers and their side full of young superstars at 7.30pm. The post-game show with Yvonne Sampson, Michael Ennis, Cooper Cronk and Corey Parker won’t fail to disappoint with a no-holds-barred yet cheeky take on the three games of the day.

Sunday Ticket hosted by Hannah Hollis begins with two clubs who share a bitter rivalry – the Bulldogs and Eels, from 2.00pm, before it’s time to venture to the Sunshine Coast where the Storm’s temporary Queensland base hosts the Knights, who will need to rally off the back of two season ending injuries last weekend.

Wrapping up the weekend of footy that was is Sunday Night with Matty Johns at 6.00pm and the Big League Wrap straight after at 7.00pm.
