Ratings delay update: Aiming for Wednesday

OzTAM advises ratings out until mid-next week, ahead of the launch of 3 big shows.

OzTAM has updated on its ratings delay:

“We’d like to inform you that Nielsen are aiming to have TV ratings data available by Wednesday, 29 July, and are working to get data available and released before that date.

“This follows the unexpected disruption relating to Nielsen’s Australian TV Audience Measurement (TAM) data centre environment earlier this week.

“Nielsen’s top priorities are to ensure that the environment is safe and to restore and release the Overnight ratings. This will be followed closely by releasing data for missing dates.

“Nielsen continues to share new information with OzTAM as it becomes available.

“We appreciate your understanding and continued patience as this matter is resolved.”

Nielsen has also issued a statement:

“As you are aware, Nielsen has experienced an unexpected disruption relating to the Australian TV Audience Measurement (TAM) data centre environment. This disruption is derived from a ransomware attack in which Nielsen was the victim.

“As a result of Nielsen’s investigation to date, we have today advised our clients that we are aiming to have TV Ratings data available by Wednesday, 29 July. However, the team at Nielsen are working incredibly hard to get data available and released before this date and will keep clients informed of any revised timelines.

“In terms of the recovery plan, Nielsen’s top priorities are to ensure that the environment is safe and to restore and release the overnight ratings. This will be followed closely by releasing data for missing days.

“We appreciate the industry’s understanding during this unprecedented situation. We will remain as transparent as we can with new information as it becomes available.”

This means numbers for Australian Ninja Warrior, Between Two Worlds and Farmer Wants a Wife -amongst others- will not be available next day.

  1. This would have been hilarious if it played out in the USA, as there is this big thing about the 18-49 demographics on Wednesday’s between the WWE NXT on USA Network brand and the new AEW wrestling brand on the TNT Network. Basically fans on each side have been taking it way too seriously as have some of the Wrestling News writers who are looking at really narrowly and not considering all Cable shows there have lost audiences. Anywho it got to a point where AEW wrestler Chris Jericho (yeah ex-wwe), said stuff on Twitter about winning that particular demographic and all hell broke lose, he repeated it on air and it got so much traction he had a T-Shirt done of him as the Demo-God.

So yeah this could’ve been a lot of fun to watch if it was there, it is already but tis would’ve been the icing on the cake …. lol.
