Renewed: Ozark confirms final season

Season 4 will be split across 14 final episodes.

Ozark has been renewed for a fourth season by Netflix -but it will also be the show’s last.

Season 4 will be split into two parts consisting of seven episodes each (previous seasons have comprised 10 eaah).

“We’re so happy Netflix recognized the importance of giving Ozark more time to end the Byrdes’ saga right,” showrunner Chris Mundy said. “It’s been such a great adventure for all of us — both on screen and off — so we’re thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible.”

Mundy will return as showrunner, writer and executive producer and will reunite with Jason Bateman as the creative forces behind both parts of the new season.

Laura Linney (who becomes co-exec producer), Julia Garner, Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner, Charlie Tahan, and Lisa Emery all return.

“A super sized season means super sized problems for the Byrdes,” Bateman said. “I’m excited to end with a bang(s).”

  1. Wonderful show, this is such an enthralling cinematic series with gripping scripts and cast. Much better than “My greatest perfect kitchen dog’s renovation” or whatever….

  2. This whole ‘splitting the final season in two’ thing has never bothered me until recently. Not even the great Breaking Bad bothered me by splitting that last season (even though the wait was excruciating!!).

I just feel it’s a cheap way of getting what is essentially two seasons out of the one so Netflix don’t need to negotiate contracts and more money for the talent that often comes with additional seasons of successful shows.

Having said that… I love that the they have mapped out a true finale and I cannot wait. S3 remains my favourite season of any TV show so far this year.
