Star Trek: Lower Decks: trailer

Lower Decks marks the first animated Star Trek series in more than 45 years.

A trailer has been released in the US for a new half-hour animated comedy Star Trek: Lower Decks.

The 10-episode series, which has already been renewed for a second season, is the first animated Star Trek series in more than 45 years.

The story focuses on the support crew that lives in the bowels at the bottom of the U.S.S. Cerritos in the year 2380, and was developed by Mike McMahan (Rick & Morty).

The voice cast includes Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, Eugene Cordero and Jerry O’Connell.

Screening in the US on CBS All Access from August 6, it’s not clear if this will air in Australia on 10 All Access, 10 Shake or elsewhere.

  1. I really hope that this does not air on 10 All Access, i’m not paying for that. Hope it comes out on Prime or Netflix like the other Star Trek shows

    1. Netflix would be fine, but I hope it’s not on Prime.

Picard looked terrible and washed out on Prime. Presented in SDR despite it being available in Dolby Vision on CBS All Access and Apple TV in the US (though strangely, not in 4K). It’s not just the lack of HDR, plenty of shows are presented in SDR and look ok… but Picard just looked significantly worse on Prime than its original broadcasters.
