The World’s Busiest Stations: July 9

Final episode on SBS tonight turns the cameras onto Flinders Street station.

The final episode of The World’s Busiest Stations tonight on SBS highlights Flinders Street Station …which is kinda ironic given today it is not busy, due to lockdown!

Flinders Street, Melbourne, Australia. It’s the busiest, grandest and oldest station not only in Australia but the whole of the southern hemisphere. It first opened in 1854 and within a hundred years grew to be the busiest station in the world surpassing Gare Saint-Lazare in Paris, Grand Central in New York, and London’s Liverpool Street.

7:30pm tonight on SBS.

  1. Flinders St isn’t the busiest station in Australia, let alone the Southern Hemisphere. Central Station in Sydney has roughly 4 times the daily patronage. (In pre-covid numbers).

  2. Thanks for the heads up David. Missed this in my TV Guide last night so will watch it on catch up tonight. I love how you find the little gems in the program guide and let us know. Would have missed this otherwise. Thank you 🙂

  3. Just beautiful….never been to Melbourne….border towns as close as I got…
Will watch this, then and hour to eat and do me things before….
    New Cold Case 9:30 pm…Without A Trace 10:30 pm on 7flix.

  4. I’ve enjoyed this series, however it was too short at only 4 eps. Maybe they couldn’t get permission, but would have liked Tokyo covered, which has the busiest station in the world.
