US actress Kelly Preston, best known for Jerry Maguire, Twins, Battlefield Earth, has died aged 57.
She died on Sunday morning after a long battle with breast cancer.
Husband John Travolta wrote on Instagram, “It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many.”
He added, “Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered. I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while. But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal.”
“On the morning of July 12, 2020, Kelly Preston, adored wife and mother, passed away following a two-year battle with breast cancer,” a representative for the family said. “Choosing to keep her fight private, she had been undergoing medical treatment for some time, supported by her closest family and friends.”
Her films included Mischief, Secret Admirer, SpaceCamp, Twins, Jerry Maguire, For Love of the Game, Holy Man, Nothing to Lose, Jack Frost, Gotti, What a Girl Wants, Battlefield Earth, and The Experts where she met Travolta.
Her TV credits include CSI: Cyber, Suburban Shootout, Medium, Fat Actress, Joey, Tales from the Crypt, Riptide, Lone Star, CHiPs, Quincy M.E. and Hawaii Five-O.
Growing up Preston lived Australia, where she attended Pembroke School in Adelaide and was discovered at 16 by a fashion photographer who helped her get work in commercials and other small parts. He arranged her first film audition for The Blue Lagoon (1980), which she lost to the younger Brooke Shields.
John Travolta is a regular visitor to Australia, as a former Qantas ambassador, and most recently visited last November. Their son Jett died tragically in 2009.

Very sad. I am shocked.
Agreed. I am shocked too. Very sad news :(
this is so tragic – way too young. John lost another love of his life to cancer too = actress Diana Hyland who was the mother in ‘Eight Is Enough’ but died in the first season. The Travolta’s have suffered much loss and tragedy.
