Where is The Good Fight, SBS?

SBS it taking too long to screen latest episodes.

Fans of The Good Fight are very frustrated that SBS is taking its sweet time to screen the fourth season.

Season 4 was due to begin on SBS in April but those plans were thrown out, after COVID-19 began to impact TV schedules everywhere.

7 of its 10 episodes were in the can in the US when the pandemic shutdown began. All of these screened stateside in April and May.

TV Tonight understands they are still some months away before airing on SBS.

That’s very frustrating for fans of the show. Nor has it been made available at SBS on Demand, which is a strategy the broadcaster happily does for foreign-language content (online first, linear later).

While it’s reasonable that networks are given some leeway around COVID scheduling, it’s also unreasonable to sit on a show for so bloody long.

If SBS wants premium drama it needs to step up to premium programming.

  1. I’m assuming I jotted down the wrong date of Wednesday 23 Sept when I commented on this story last week. It was awaiting validation (or whatever message comes up when we type a response) but has since disappeared. I hope it is not because I had written anything offensive?!?!

  2. I’ve got a somewhat related follow-up question. The “Still to Come on SBS in 2020” ad being referenced in these comments has not included the next season of “Fargo” (unless I missed something) which was slated to air at about the same time as “The Good Fight” in mid-to-late April, but like “The Good Fight” was shelved. Any news of where we stand on “Fargo”.

Happy sating my appetite with “Luther”, but I’d like something new.

  3. Every day I look for the headline it’s starting again and nothing. And now September, gosh easier to see it some other way than wait that long SBS. Poor decision.

  4. Too long. Annoying, but TBH what are they showing this at all? As I recall, SBS was set up when I was a kid to show non English language language TV. Why has this changed? Good Fight should be on a streaming platform IMHO

  5. If after a decade or two of losing market share to torrenting; if they haven’t learned their lesson by now they never will.

The Good Fight is too good a show to watch 6 months late. Most people have seen it by now SBS.

Get a refund on your rights (so it can air on 10AA) and spend the money on Australian content (ie Australian jobs).

  6. Agree this is to long a wait.
I never know when this is on as this is the only show I watch on sbs so rely on Tv tonight to tell me the date.
September.. I guess that’s not too far off but really what we’re they waiting for.

  7. SBS has been actively promoting it as coming in September. Agree that a show like this should be made available in line with the US broadcast, particularly because of the timely nature of many of its ripped-from-the-headlines episodes, but it’s not like SBS have been quiet about when its return will be.

        1. Diane (Christine) says it herself in the trailer “I never used to swear, and when I do that, it has added meaning …” these delay’s are “motherf….n’ nuts!”

In what feels like a lifetime ago, this was going to be my favourite new season of 2020. But didn’t that change. Would just be happy to get the finale of TWD, but hey, at least these guys got 7 episodes out.

Also, on the topic of ‘premium programming’ i’m sure we all remember 10’s ‘Mean Girls’ days … lest we not forget…
