ABC sells formats to UK

The Great Bee Challenge & Advice to My 12-Year-Old Self are getting British adaptations.

Two ABC’s formats have been sold to the UK.

A British version of Advice to My 12-Year-Old Self will screen on BBC’s Gaelic channel BBC ALBA.

This sees politicians, athletes, academics, activists, performers and artists on advice they would give to their 12-year-old selves today. Produced by Obh Obh Productions the series generated strong cross-generational appeal. This originally screened on ABC ME in 2017.

Meanwhile CBeebies have commissioned Keshet Productions to produce a kid’s version of The Great Bee Challenge, re-named as Show Me The Honey.

A recent finalist in the International Format Awards, The Great Bee Challenge sees four families – from city and country – with an entomologist and an urban beekeeping expert guiding them as they compete against one another to build hives that produce honey. This format, which aired on Catalyst in 2019, has been optioned in six countries – making it one of the ABC’s most successful competition formats.

ABC Commercial’s Sales Manager for Asia & Worldwide Format Sales, Katherine McMillan, said “We’re tremendously excited to be working with the BBC to bring these wonderful formats to UK audiences. Both shows have a warm feel good message with strong co-viewing potential, so are perfect for current programming trends.”
