  1. After the News, viewers turn off FTA in droves. 9 & 10 aren’t too worried as they have subscription streaming services and the ABC/SBS have free SVOD. 7’s strategy of stripped programs every night has been stripped bare and it’s now wearing a patchwork quilt to retain some modesty.after being refreshed and reinvigorated.

  2. The FTA networks really need to take a look at themselves and realise they no longer hold a monopoly on viewers. Long gone are they days they would dictate what viewers watch.

  3. The news on all channels have always been dominated by the 55+ age group which have skewed the overall percentages for networks for a long time. Just looking at Nine News last night, overall figure of 1.037M with 305K in the 25-54 age bracket and diminishing numbers in 18-49 and 16-39. That suggests that up to 700K of its total viewership is 55+. These oldies (BTW I am 56) are tuning in to the news and then switching off in droves.

  4. Thursday nights used to be good nights for TV viewing and ratings with comedy (sketch), travel and food programs being some of the more prominent offerings over the last few decades. For example, programs like Getaway, Full Frontal and the Food Safari series’ did very well.
