Alison Sweeney returning to Days of Our Lives

Fan-favourite troublemaker Sami Brady gets a return on long running US soap.

US actress Alison Sweeney is set to reprise her role as fan-favourite troublemaker Sami Brady on Days of Our Lives when the show resumes taping in the US next month.

Since she left as a full-time cast member in 2014 after 21 years, Sweeney has been coming back for a short arc every year since 2017 -her most recent before a coronavirus-related production shutdown.

Under a new deal, she will appear in new episodes, from late 2020 and though most of 2021, as part of an emotional storyline centered around family and daughter Allie Horton, played by Lindsay Arnold.

“It is always a beautiful day in Salem when we get to welcome Alison Sweeney back to the canvas,” Executive Producer Ken Corday said. “Sami Brady is an integral part of our show’s history and we are elated that she’s coming home again.”

Days Of Our Lives has enough original episodes in the can to take it through to early October.

Production is slated to resume on September 1. Days airs in Australia on FOX One and 9GEM.

  1. Hi David, I noticed that Days Of Our Lives and the Young and the Restless are out of the 9GEM schedule from next Monday. Do you know if it is returning or has it been quietly axed?

  2. Presuming that her current return stint ends, there won’t be much space between Sami returns, if she comes back again before the end of the year.
