Axed: Drunk History (US)

US comedy ends shortly before a local version premieres.

Comedy Central series Drunk History has been axed in the US after 6 seasons.

The series, which has also screened in Australia on SBS VICELAND, has already in pre-production and taping some of the comedian narrations for Season 7 when the coronavirus pandemic intervened. Those will not be proceeding.

Deadline reports the high costs of production, including period reenactments, played a role in the decision not to proceed.

The Derek Waters-Jeremy Konner series, which began as a web series, is getting an Australian adaptation following its tryout as part of Pilot Week.

The local edition on 10 is due to premiere in within weeks.

Comedy Central is available in Australia via Fetch TV.
