Axed: Our Girl

UK drama series starring Michelle Keegan ends at four seasons.

UK drama series Our Girl has been axed after four seasons, after Michelle Keegan who played Sgt. Georgie Lane, departed.

Creator and writer Tony Grounds said: “With the finale of series four showing Georgie ready to move on with her life, it feels like the right time for us to do the same.”

But he added: “Michelle and I are keen to continue our working relationship and, who knows, maybe we’ll catch up with Georgie in the future. I wanted to say a big thank you to the fans of the show, it’s been a joy to write.”

Piers Wenger, Controller Of BBC Drama, said: “We are very proud of Our Girl and would like to thank Tony Grounds, Michelle Keegan and the fantastic cast and crew for all their hard work on the show.”

The series, which also featured Aussie Shalom Brune-Franklin, has aired in Australia on BBC First and ABC.

  1. I watched only one season of this show which looked promising initially but quickly became familiar British budget melodrama.
Having watched another moderately better series about British involvement in Afghanistan ‘Bluestone 42’ it was soon obvious that ‘Our Girl’ used the same South African based Middle East sets used in that show too, which is rather lazy production standards by the BBC.
