Dan Wyllie pleads not guilty to assault charge

Actor did not attend court but his solicitor entered a plea on his behalf, in Sydney today.

Actor Dan Wyllie has pleaded not guilty to assault charges today stemming from an alleged domestic violence incident in Woollahra in March.

Wyllie, whose credits include Love My Way, Seachange and Puberty Blues was arrested on Saturday and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.

Wife Shannon Murphy, who has directed on On the Ropes, Killing Eve, Rake and Offspring, has also taken out an apprehended violence order.

Wyllie did not appear before Downing Centre Local Court today due to the COVID-10 pandemic, but his solicitor entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf, indicating the defence planned to call multiple witnesses, including an additional police witness.

Medical records are also expected to play a role in the case.

The matter returns to court on August 26.
