Louise Houbaer to present Seven Tasmania News weekends

Tasmanian reporter rises through the ranks to take weekend anchor role in Tassie.

Tasmanian reporter Louise Houbaer will front the Weekend Nightly News on Seven Tasmania.

With both her parents working as journalists, Houbaer began at Seven Tasmania four years ago after graduating from the University of Tasmania. For Seven she has covered reporting from legal, to sport and politics.

SCA Director of News – Tasmania, Grant Wilson, said: “I’m delighted to announce Louise as our new weekend news anchor at Seven. She has strong and diverse journalism credentials and is an engaging, warm television presenter.

“To see a local journalist rise through the ranks and be rewarded for their efforts is great for them and the entire team.”

Houbaer said, “It’s been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember to be a newsreader, and to be able to fulfil that here in my beloved home state, is still a bit surreal.

“Seven Tasmania News is the state’s most watched and trusted news for a reason, people in their thousands have continued to tune in during times when they crucially need information.

“I’m looking forward to our loyal viewers joining me every weekend to hear what’s making news around the world, and locally. Without our viewers, we wouldn’t be here, and we are so grateful for their loyalty and trust in us to deliver news to them every night.”

Kim Millar now presents weeknight news following the departure of Jo Palmer after 18 years.
