  1. Anh Do interviewing Anna Meares was excellent TV.

I’m sure it will be back in 2021 because it’s one show you can easily do socially distanced.

  2. David, I just wanted to point out my frustration with your daily spoilers on who is behind the mask. I get that it’s a reality show that people are meant to watch live but some of us really do prefer to watch via catch up. I note that you do live announcements of reality winners which is fair enough but you don’t publish who was dumped on the Bachelor etc each week. It actually makes me want to avoid the site for a few days which surely isn’t good for your readership?

    1. Thanks. Yes I’ve noted Masked Singer reveals next day, which I am comfortable is a reasonable timeframe… that’s well after a lot of mainstream media the night before and a network press release. I’ve posted some big reality wins recently as per broadcast to reflect their popularity. The site is a personal blog so not every reality outcome gets the same editorial weight. I also don’t do recaps (telling you what you missed), preferring to devote the same time to reviews (helping you make choices). I do find it odd that generalist sites can publish info yet a dedicated TV site is expected to conceal. Adding a Spoiler to some stories and not others would be confusing for all, so the rule of thumb has always been: Unaired = Spoiler. Aired = News. Where a viewer is swimming against the tide it makes sense for them to adjust accordingly. Thanks for feedback, hope this clarifies.

  3. I’m enjoying the mask singer but I do get a little tired of the guesses that some of the judges have. They do get a little un amusing and just so wrong.

Yeah about the morning shows, I used to record sunrise so when I got home from work I would just flick through it just for the overnight news and anything else going on. I’ve stopped doing it now. I flick it on for the first 1/2 hour before I leave for work. I’ not sure if i’s all the covid or just other stuff in the world going on but I just grew tired of it all. I still like the sunrise crew but the first 30 minutes is enough for me at the moment.

  4. I was rather under the impression that ‘Masked Singer’ contestants were supposed to be people who weren’t professional warblers and Katie Noonan or Christine Anu are hardly figures from the dim, distant past (even if 14 year olds would not be particularly familiar with them!).

    1. No – the US has had many professional singers appear on their version (e.g. Seal last year, as well as Chaka Kahn and Gladys Knight). Cody Simpson even won last year’s Australian version, so it’s never been a show that only features non-professional singers. It’s all about trying to guess who is under the mask. Great entertainment (and Katie definitely didn’t deserve to be voted off last night)!

        1. The even bigger story is that ABCs Breakfast was only 9000 below Today and 31000 below Sunrise. Cannot wait for the headline when ABC tops them both.

        2. I read a while ago Nine plan to keep same lineup for 2021 which looks smart given recent numbers. Also in an uncertain era viewers probably want some stability and familiarity. Today deserves to be close Ally is a good operator and has great chemistry with Karl from the limited bits I have seen.

  5. The personalities revealed on The Masked Singer are very familiar and famous though they might not be known as much to the younger generations. It still creates interest in the personalities revealed and they can learn about the personalities. It’s great to see the stars from my youth in the spotlight again. I think having more personalities that are more known to younger generations would be good variety.

  6. I’m actually surprised The Masked Singer numbers aren’t higher. Everyone I know seems to be watching / talking about this show, including those who no longer watch free to air tv. The buzz feels a lot higher than the numbers are reflecting.
