Plate of Origin contestant Chrys Hong, 30, has been tragically diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer.

The Daily Telegraph reports the Sydney DJ — known as DJ Kitty Coda — started experiencing stomach aches on set.

“There were no symptoms besides the pain, which I had had since the middle of filming,” Hong said.

“But the pain was just there all the time, it wasn’t like an on and off thing.”

After a month of three separate GP consultations, including two who dismissed it as minor, she was told, ‘This is really serious, we have to put you in the hospital.”

“That night I was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer.

“Because the spread is too much, they can’t do surgery, so they had to do chemo,” she said.

She is now undergoing a new targeted treatment, not as harsh as the chemo.

Remarkably she made herself available for press interviews for the TV series. Chrys Hong features in the first episode with Team China friend Mandy, next Sunday night. She also encourages everyone to seek other medical opinions.

“There might be a time limit on my lifetime now but I will do whatever I can to fit as much in,” she said.

Plate of Origin begins 7pm next Sunday on Seven.
