Tim Lester appointed to Seven US bureau

Political reporter Tim Lester to head to Seven's US Bureau, with Paul Kadak to return to Sydney.

Seven News political reporter is US bound, joining the US Bureau.

He replaces Paul Kadak who returns to Seven in the Sydney Newsroom after two years in the US.

For the past 17 years Lester has been a fixture in Canberra across a number of networks, the last six years working with Seven. He began his broadcast career in 1982 and has served as a foreign correspondent in the Middle East, South East Asia and the Americas.

Lester joins US Bureau from October, alongside Bureau Chief Ashlee Mullany and David Woiwod, just ahead of the US Election.

Seven is yet to announce his replacement in Canberra.

  1. “… served as a foreign correspondent in the Middle East …”
In the lead-up to the US election this assignment could be more dangerous than the Middle East.

  2. Thanks for informing us of journo shuffles like this, interesting.

I always saw Tim as more of a senior political reporter, kind of like a ‘2IC’ to Mark Riley, no doubt his extensive experience will bolster their US bureau.

Similar to when Hugh Riminton was Paul Bongiorno’s 2IC for a couple of years at Network 10 a decade ago.

PS: Is Amelia Brace no longer in the US (who headlines a couple of months back)?
