Airdate: Talking Heads

Jodie Comer, Martin Freeman, Tamsin Greig, Maxine Peake, Imelda Staunton remake classic monologues by writer Alan Bennett.

UK production Talking Heads which has been filmed during lockdown conditions with a star-studded cast will screen on consecutive nights on BBC First in October.

Scripted by the great Alan Bennett, the cast includes Jodie Comer, Martin Freeman, Kristin Scott-Thomas, Tamsin Greig, Maxine Peake, Lesley Manville and Imelda Staunton.

Alan Bennett’s critically acclaimed and multi-award-winning Talking Heads monologues first aired on BBC Television in 1988 and 1998, breaking new ground for television and widely celebrated as Alan Bennett’s masterpieces. Ten of the original pieces have been remade, with the addition of two new monologues written by Bennett in 2019.  

Double episodes on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with single episodes on Wednesday and Friday from October 18 to October 24.

  1. what a great link – thank you David. I saw Maggie Smith at the Wharf Theatre in Sydney in early 00’s and it was one of the best nights of my life as she performed one of the Alan Bennett Talking Heads, I so wanted to meet her but wasn’t going to be a stage door Johnny. I did ‘fax’ the theatre the next day to give thanks. What a great set of actresses here. Especially Ms Saunton and Ms Manville.
