Around the World in 80 Days to resume production

Filming on miniseries coming to Seven is set to resume shooting in Romania & South Africa.

Filming on international miniseries Around the World in 80 Days, is set to resume shooting in Romania and South Africa on October 1st.

David Tennant plays explorer Phileas Fogg, in the Jules Verne classic, with Ibrahim Koma as sidekick Passepartout and Leonie Benesch as Abigail Fix, a journalist who joins the voyage.

Seven was a backer of the production through its UK-based Slim Film + Television although it has since sold its interest in that production arm. There are other interests in South Africa, France, Germany and Italy.

“We are over the moon to be re-commencing filming on Around the World in 80 Days,” said Crawford Collins, who is executive producing.

“This project is such a challenging and ambitious series to put together, so it has required a huge amount of support on all fronts to pull it off. We couldn’t have achieved it without our wonderful production team, our stellar cast, our super supportive broadcasters and financiers, the inventiveness of our directors, and the ingenuity of our wonderful writing team led by Ashley Pharoah.”
