Expert quits Married at First Sight

"I have decided to step back from the television series," says Dr Trisha Stratford.

Goodbye pheromones….

Neuropsychotherapist Dr Trisha Stratford (pictured centre) has quit Nine reality juggernaut Married at First Sight.

“After seven seasons of Married At First Sight I have decided to step back from the television series to focus on my writing, research and neuropsychotherapy,” she said in a statement.

“I’ve been involved right from the beginning in the challenge of bringing this social experiment to television. The program provides a platform for an ongoing conversation on relationships and I wish the program continued success and hope future participants find everlasting love.”

In a statement, Nine said, “We want to thank Trisha for the extraordinary contribution she has made to the success of Married At First Sight. She showed great courage joining this very unconventional social experiment in its first short series and helped transform it into the hugely successful franchise it is today. We wish her all the best as she re-directs her energies back into her professional career.”

This leaves the show with two current experts John Aiken (pictured right) and Mel Schilling (left).

The Daily Mail, which first reported the story, tips a US sex therapist will replace her, with experts meeting participants via Zoom.

A full line-up of experts will be announced soon, with network Upfronts due on September 16.

  1. Based on their success rate of long lasting relationships spawned from the show – all of these ‘experts’ should probably be replaced. Maybe that’s the ‘experiment’ they should try.

  2. Extraordinary contribution? You’ve got to be kidding. All she ever does is probe into their sex lives. If a male ‘expert’ did it they’d come across as very creepy. Definitely no loss to the show.

  3. I think I’ve watched 5 seasons of it and I still wasn’t 100% sure which of the two Trish was until it said centre in the pic lol. Let’s be honest, the experts don’t add much credibility to the show, they’re all very cliched with their “expert” advice. A replacement won’t be hard to find or change much about the dynamic of the show.
