Nine, ABC shows lead entertainment

Ratings: Things get very tight in Breakfast TV. Nine wins Tuesday.

Nine and ABC shows did battle on Tuesday, while SBS saw a lift in its shares while a returning 10 show struggled.

Elsewhere things got very tight in Breakfast TV.

The Block was the top entertainment show at 821,000 and topped the demos.

It won its slot ahead of Anh’s Brush with Fame (649,000), 7:30 (602,000), Plate of Origin (410,000), Body Hack (346,000) and Great Asian Railway Journeys (304,000).

Later Further Back in Time for Dinner led at 537,000 just ahead of Halifax: Retribution (508,000).

Nine network won Tuesday with 30.2% then Seven 25.1%, ABC 17.8%, 10 16.1% and SBS 10.8%.

Nine News (1.03m / 985,000) was best for Nine. A Current Affair (719,000) and Hot Seat (493,000 / 303,0000. Bluff City Law was 200,000.

Seven News was #1 at 1.06m / 1.01m for Seven. The Chase (587,000 / 329,000) and Home and Away (570,000) followed. Movie: Taken 2 was just 193,000.

ABC News won its slot at 740,000. The Great Acceleration pulled 242,000 and The Drum was 179,000.

The Project drew 512,000 / 323,000 for 10. 10 News First was 340,000 / 211,000 and Ambulance Australia (281,000) followed. NCIS was 137,000.

On SBS it was Insight (197,000), SBS World News (194,000), Tour de France (140,000), Dateline (137,000) and Mastermind (75,000).

NCIS led multichannels at 199,000.

Today: 249,000
News Breakfast: 134,000 / 66,000

  1. Poor ch7, ‘POO’ would have to be its biggest disaster to date if you factor that the judges once could draw in 800k to 1.2mil viewers. They just can’t seem to get anything from a 7pm time slot onwards to be a number 1 performance show.
    ie: Yes it happens but its usually for a one off special such as ‘the full monty’.

    1. Farmer did very well just recently, albeit not number one.

      My biggest gripe with Ch7s dissapointments this year in MKR, House Rules and POO is that that they’re produced by the same team/company and it’s just all too similar. That squeaky clean, bright and cheerful but plain visual style. Hard to describe, but it provides a very vanilla viewing experience in my opinion.

    1. Is Ally on holidays? I’ve switched to Sunrise, so now while Deb is there, I’ll go back to Today. I’m not an Ally fan and don’t like the way she interviews, trying to create an argument all the time with her guests.
