Nine News restores local bulletin for Darwin

Paul Taylor to present locally-produced bulletin from October.

A locally-produced Nine News bulletin is returning to Darwin from Monday, October 5th.

The bulletin, presented by Paul Taylor, follows a decision in 2017 which saw Jonathan Uptin relocate to Queensland for regional bulletins.

Steve Shervill, Nine General Manager Darwin, said: “Investing in more local stories has never been more important within this challenging COVID-19 climate and our team on the ground are well equipped to deliver news that matters, as it happens, from here in Darwin and throughout the Territory.”

Kate Limon, Network Regional News Director, said: “9News Darwin is back, live and local, to shine a spotlight on stories that matter to all Territorians. Our journalists and camera operators are locals, they know the issues that affect the NT, and local audiences can continue to rely on 9News as their most-trusted news service.”

  1. well if its shot and edited and written in NT then locally produced is still some what correct. the press release i have read that its an hour news similar to the other “metro” markets around the country, just being read out of Brisbane but weather will be read out of Darwin. increase in 1 camera position

  2. A dedicated bulletin is great however it’s still being presented by someone sat in a studio thousands of kilometres away in Brisbane and won’t mean any more resources on the ground in Darwin. Also no mention of whether it’s an actual hour long local bulletin or just a half hour followed by Brisbane News like the rest of the “regional” bulletins. My bet is on the latter…

  3. Watching Masked Singer last night as a news break came on with Sandra Sully giving the local news highlights. It just did not ring true. Ten will regret their decision. Goon on Nine for keeping it local

    1. You’ve probably seen “that guy” Paul Taylor if you have been to the Sunshine Coast. Paul read the news on 9-WIN for many years and continued on 9 Southern Cross. He lives in Maroochydore.
