Foxtel is now chasing a discount in broadcasting rights from Cricket Australia.
The Australian Financial Review reports Foxtel wrote to Cricket Australia on Friday alleging a shortfall in quality and a schedule that favoured India’s cricketing body rather than local broadcasters.
Foxtel signed a $1.18 billion, six-year deal in 2018.
The news follows Seven threatening to cancel its deal with CA, in a dispute that could lead to mediation, arbitration and potentially into court.
There are suggestions Foxtel may also withhold a payment to CA this week, which has similarly been reported in the Seven dispute.
“Cricket Australia remains in ongoing discussions with broadcasters about delivering a compelling summer of cricket. CA is committed to fulfilling its contractual obligations to all its partners this season,” a Cricket Australia spokesman said.
Foxtel has received discounts for the AFL, NRL and A-League due to changes brought about by COVID.
Foxtel declined to comment.

If both broadcasters are seeking a discount, surely CA must come to the party and give some form of discount!
