The bloody battle of Germanic tribes against the Roman Empire in 9 AD is coming to Netflix.

Sprawling German period drama The Barbarians is coming to Netflix next month.

During the battle of the Teutoburg forest in 9 AD the fates of three lives are connected to each other when the Germanic tribes attempted to halt the spread of the Roman Empire.

The cast includes David Schütter (Charlie’s Angels), Laurence Rupp (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) and Bernhard Schütz (Sense8).

In the famous battle of the Teutoburg Forest, Germanic warriors in 9 AD halted the spread of the Roman Empire in their advance north. This bloody encounter of two worlds is tragically interwoven with the destinies of three young people whose fate will lead them from innocence to guilt, from loyalty to betrayal, and from love to hate.
